The Sydney Sixers will return to Perth to chase the ultimate revenge after knocking off the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL Challenger Final.
Setting the highest total of 8-198 at the SCG in a BBL final, the Sixers total was just too powerful for the Hurricanes who fell 57 runs short after being bowled out for 141.
It sets up a mouthwatering match up against the Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium on Sunday as the rivalry continues between the two most successful clubs in the BBL.
The massive total was set up by Sixers star Steve Smith who belted his way to 65 from 43 balls taking it to the Hurricanes quicks.

Many fans were excited to see the match up of Sixers left arm quick Mitch Starc and Hurricanes power hitter Mitch Owen but it didn’t last as long as Hobart fans would have liked with Starc getting the last laugh removing Owen for just 13 from eight balls.
The Hurricanes looked set to fire with Beau Webster (24 from 27 balls) and captain Ben McDermott (40 from 26 balls) building a partnership before Webster was caught on the eve of drinks leaving Hobart at 3-77 at the 10 over mark.
But Sixers spinner removed arguably two of the Hurricanes best batters in Nikhil Chaudhary with a great diving catch on the boundary by Jack Edwards and the very next ball a one handed diving catch to remove Matt Wade to leave them struggling at 5-86 in the 12th over.
McDermott did what he could as stand-in skipper trying to make quick work of the big total before being removed by Starc which very much locked up the game leaving the Hurricanes at 7-109.
OWEN’S TORTURE OVER
For the eighth time this BBL season, Owen has failed to face more than 10 balls in a season where expectations were high on the opening bat.
In his eleventh innings this season, Owen failed again, this time when the Hurricanes needed his fireworks in what was the biggest run chase required in BBL finals history at the SCG.
Even if you include the three times he has faced more than 10 balls, Owen has still failed to face more than 20 balls, with his best coming at just 18 balls where he belted 45 against the Thunder as the Hurricanes chased down a 206 total.
A season of much hype and promise ended in disappointment for Hurricanes fans.
CLASH OF THE TITANS
The Sydney Sixers return to Perth to battle for the BBL title in what is one of the biggest rivalries in the competition’s history.
The Perth Scorchers are the most successful club in the BBL with five titles while the Sixers are second with three titles.
The two teams have met in the final five times (Sunday will make it six) while both teams have been runners up three times each as well.
All three times the Sixers have come second have been at the hands of the Scorchers with the last time the two teams came together in the final was in BBL11 at Marvel Stadium.
Across the 29 match ups, the Scorchers have claimed 17 wins, nine from batting second with four of those wins coming at Optus Stadium.
