Death in Paradise’s season 15 trailer just landed, giving fans a first look at Happy Valley’s Siobhan Finneran in the BBC crime series. The brand new trailer was dropped on the show’s official Instagram page and, as is to be expected, teases more befuddling murders on the island of Saint Marie.
Finneran pops up towards the end of the teaser trailer, wearing a strained and nervous expression, but that is all eager viewers will get to see of her for now, as her role and part in the upcoming season remains under wraps.
Joining the Happy Valley star as guest actors this season will be Steffan Rhodri (Gavin & Stacey), Ben Willbond (Ghosts), Scarlett Alice Johnson (EastEnders), and Ace Bhatti (Malpractice).
Elsewhere, amid threats, investigative work and declarations of murder, the trailer also showed Don Warrington’s fan-favourite character Selwyn returning to the island to reclaim his Commissioner status.
This is tipped to be an uphill struggle, as the season 15 synopsis reads: “Returning Commissioner Selwyn Patterson confronts the impact of his recent period of absence, and after some tough love from old friend Catherine Bordey, he’s determined to win back the trust of the island.”

Meanwhile, fans are able to catch a glimpse of Mervin (Don Gilet) bonding with his long-lost brother Solomon (Daniel Ward), but all is not smooth sailing for the pair.
The synopsis explains: “Whilst attempting to connect with his recently discovered half-brother Solomon, Mervin’s newfound familial happiness soon turns to frustration as he discovers the pair are not quite as similar as he hoped they might be.”
That’s not the only trouble on the horizon, with the BBC also teasing “a myriad of baffling cases”, one of which, judging by the trailer, results in Mervin being tied to a chair.
Joining the investigations this season will be new recruit Sergeant Mattie Fletcher (Catherine Garton), who steps in just as Ginny Holder’s Officer Darlene Curtis departs after seven years on the show.
Holder’s exit was announced earlier this week via an Instagram post, which was captioned: “Sadly, we’re saying goodbye to Darlene this series. Ginny Holder has been a much-loved cast member, and we’re hugely grateful to her for bringing her talent, personality and energy to Officer Darlene Curtis.
“We wish her all the best – maybe we’ll catch up with her in Saint Marie down the line!”
Death in Paradise season 15 airs on Friday 30 January on BBC One. Death in Paradise and its spin-offs Beyond Paradise and Return to Paradise are all available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
