That was a bumper day of news at the Australian Open – completed with the men’s doubles pairing of Jason Kubler and Marc Polmans (who’d defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios earlier in the tournament) coming from a set down to defeat Jakub Paul and Marcus Willis 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 and win through to the next round.

Casper Ruud is into the fourth round after a four-set win over Marin Cilic tonight.
Ruud broke Cilic’s serve to win the fourth set, he won 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
It’s Ruud’s second visit to the fourth round at Melbourne Park.

Kubler/Polmans level their match
Aussie pair Jason Kubler and Marc Polmans have locked up their match with Jakub Paul and Marcus Willis at one set each, so they will go to a deciding set.
Meanwhile, Marin Cilic has held serve to make it 5-5 in the fourth set.
These are the last two matches of the night.

Ruud keeps pressure on Cilic
Ruud has taken a 5-4 lead in the fourth set over Cilic with Cilic to serve after their break.
The Norwegian No.12 seed has a two sets to one lead – if he can break the Croatian next game, he will win the match.

Smoke forces roof closure
It appears the roof closure on Margaret Court Arena was because of some smoke that has blown into Melbourne Park.
There are a number of bushfires burning around the state at present, so it’s hard to nail down exactly where it has come from.
But you can smell some smoke at present, so good move to close the roof and reduce the impact on the players.

There appears to have been some drops of rain on Margaret Court Arena as they have paused play and closed the roof.
Casper Ruud is up 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 3-2 against Marin Cilic with Cilic serving.
Ruud was on top in the first two sets but Cilic is fighting back.

Remaining matches rescheduled
There are two matches still playing at Melbourne Park, while the rest will be moved to Sunday.
There are around 11 matches that are listed from today as being rescheduled.
Most of them are junior or junior doubles matches but some mixed doubles contests were also moved to Sunday.
Aussie pair Maya Joint and Matthew Romios had their game rescheduled as did another Aussie mixed pair in Talia Gibson and Matthew Ebden.
Both their matches have been rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

‘I’m hungry’: Djokovic’s next opponent
Czech No.16 seed Jakub Mensik respects Novak Djokovic but is hungry for success when the pair meet in the fourth round.
Mensik acknowledged that Djokovic was a 10-time Australian Open champion and loved the Melbourne Park conditions but he plans to take the game to the Serbian legend.

“There is no tougher opponent here in the Australian Open, he’s 10-time champion. I will do my best and prepare with my team,” Mensik said.
“I’ll keep showing up. I’m hungry. Let’s see what happens.”

Mensik wins, sets up Djokovic clash
Jakub Mensik is into the fourth round after beating Ethan Quinn on KIA Arena tonight.
Mensik, the No.16 seed, won 6-2, 7-6, 7-6 and he will face Djokovic next round.
He pumped his fists to the crowd but he knows he has a huge test to come.
