SAN RAMON, CA –Washington State quarterback Zevi Eckhaus was named the Pac-12 Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2025 season, the conference announced today. The award, which is presented in each of the sports sponsored by the Pac-12, was established to honor student-athletes who are standouts both academically and in their respective sport. In addition, the Pac-12 also announced its Fall Academic Honor Roll which included 43 football student-athletes from Oregon State and Washington State.
Eckhaus is a graduate student working towards a master’s degree in strategic communications with a 3.75 grade point average after obtaining his undergraduate degree from Washington State in Social Sciences in the Spring of 2025 with a 3.61 GPA.
The redshirt senior started the final 10 games and saved his best performance of the season for their victory over Utah State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, with 334 pass yards and three touchdown passes. A two-way threat, Eckhaus threw for 2,094 yards with 15 touchdowns through the air while also rushing for 371 yards, sixth most by a Washington State quarterback in single-season history, and eight rushing touchdowns which is tied for fourth most in school history. Named to the 2025 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, the Los Angeles, Calif. native spent his first three years at Bryant before transferring to Washington State.
To be eligible for the Pac-12 scholar-athlete of the year award, student-athletes must be a senior (in athletics eligibility), on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum one year in residence at the institution. Each Pac-12 institution may nominate one individual per sport, and the winners are selected by a committee of Pac-12 staff members at the conclusion of each sport’s regular season. The athletics accomplishments of the nominees are a consideration in voting for the award. The award was established during the 2007-08 academic year and is named in each of the Pac-12 sponsored sports.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be on their respective roster with a cumulative GPA of at 3.3 and have served at least one year in residence at the institution.
