Australian Jason Kubler has said teammate Marc Polmans carried him throughout their semi-final win and that he’d use a day off on Friday to “shake those cobwebs” before their final on Saturday night.

Polmans’ exceptional shot-making to break serve in the third set propelled the pair past Jan Zielinski and Luke Johnson and into the final.

“Unbelievable. Far out, he carried me today,” Kubler said after the match, while Polmans shook his head modestly.

“The second set, I felt like I had too much energy and then almost shut down a bit, and without Marcy on my side in this match, I don’t know if I would’ve been able to get through that.”

Kubler later said: “Luckily we get the day off tomorrow … so I can shake those cobwebs … ’cause I know I’m better than that, what I showed today.”
