Harrison announced she would undergo surgery ahead of a title defense against the returning Amanda Nunes that was scheduled to take place at UFC 324 in Las Vegas this past Saturday. The two-time Olympic gold medal-winning judoka was forced to withdraw from the highly anticipated bout, which is expected to be rescheduled, according to UFC CEO Dana White.
A timetable for Harrison’s recovery and the rescheduling of the Nunes bout is still to be determined.
Following a PFL run that saw her win a pair of lightweight tournament championships, Harrison made a successful transition to UFC in 2024, defeating Holly Holm and Ketlen Vieira in her first two fights for the promotion. She captured the bantamweight title in dominant fashion at UFC 316 in June with a second-round submission of Julianna Peña and now waits to recover to book her first title defense.
