NHL officials were at AT&T Stadium in November when the league revealed Dallas would host the 2027 Stadium Series game. It will be the first hockey game at AT&T Stadium.

The Stars aren’t strangers to stadium games, as they hosted the league’s Winter Classic at the Cotton Bowl in 2020. That game notably drew an attendance figure of 85,630.

Many speculated for the last two months whom the Stars would face at AT&T Stadium, and the league ultimately chose one of Dallas’ newer rivals. The Stars and Golden Knights played playoff series in back-to-back seasons in 2023 and 2024 — with the Stars falling to the Golden Knights in the 2023 Western Conference finals before avenging that loss in a thrilling Game 7 win in the first round of 2024.

This would be the third time Vegas plays in an outdoor game. The Golden Knights last played outdoors in 2024, when they faced the Seattle Kraken in the Winter Classic at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
