The National Championships just got bigger with 3×3 officially joining in the party in Ballarat today alongside the Foot Locker Under-20 and Ivor Burge National Championships.

Making its debut, the 3×3 Championships will run across January 30–31 at Selkirk Stadium, bringing Australia’s top emerging Under-17 and Under-23 talent together.

The inaugural tournament marks an important step in the national 3×3 pathway, providing athletes with exposure to the international style of play and alignment with the FIBA 3×3 rankings system.

“The 3×3 Champs introduces a fresh, stand-alone event that complements the talent identification pathway for the Australian Gangurrus,” Basketball Australia 3×3 High Performance Manager Priyanka Karunakaran said.

“With strong global momentum behind the format and its popularity across Asia, this event represents an exciting boost for junior basketball, the Oceania region and the continued growth of 3×3 in Australia.”

The addition of 3×3 reinforces its growing role within Australia’s high-performance pathway.

“As we build towards the LA and Brisbane Olympic cycles, this national event will be a key driver in strengthening ranking points opportunities and elevating the pathway, with plans to expand the tournament and welcome Oceania teams in future editions,” Karunakaran said.
