ST. CHARLES, Missouri — The UNI women’s tennis team picked up a hard-fought, 4-3 victory over Lindenwood on Friday, securing its first win of the Spring season.
Sophomore Andjela Raznatovic led the Panthers with a perfect day at the top of the lineup as she earned a convincing 6-3, 6-4 win at the No.1 singles over Fabiana Labrador and teamed up with freshman Lucia Schuknecht to dominate the No.1 doubles court, cruising to a 6-1 victory.
UNI claimed the doubles point after winning two of three matches as the Panther duo of Kayla Santosa and Kanyanut Sudsaard secured a 6-3 victory at the No.3 doubles to clinch the opening point.
In singles play, UNI earned three crucial wins to seal the match. Schuknecht added a point at No. 2 singles, defeating Megan Caffin 6-3, 7-6 in a competitive battle. Abbie Peterson delivered the match-clinching point at No. 6 singles, earning a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 win over Mathilde Humbert.
Lindenwood picked up singles victories at the No. 3, 4, and 5 spots. Yangjiaxin Li forced a third set at No. 3 singles, while Andrea Noa Galin battled through three sets at No. 4 Santosa competed at No. 5 to round out the Panther lineup.
