It took 36 tournaments over seven months (or 30-plus weeks or 214 days, whichever measure of time you prefer) for the 2025 PGA Tour regular season to play out. In that period, 350 different tour pros teed it up. Now 70 remain, having earned enough points to qualify for the first of three events in the PGA Tour postseason, the FedEx St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind in Memphis.

Suffice it to say, there is plenty on the line this week at TPC Southwind in Memphis. The purse is $20 million, but of more importance to some are the FedEx Cup points up for grabs, with four times the number given out in regular-season events, including 2,000 to the winner. Players in the top 50 in the points standings after this week’s no-cut tournament get to advance to the second playoff event, the BMW Championship, as well as being guaranteed entry into all the signature events on the tour’s schedule in 2026.

Here then is the FedEx Cup points list at the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship. Of the top 70, only Rory McIlroy will be MIA in Memphis; he’s skipping the event knowing only 15 players could pass him on the points list with a win and at the most two players could jump him overall.

The Ron Prichard design (with consultation from Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller) has hosted an event on the PGA Tour since 1989, and starting in 2022, it hosts one of the premier events on the PGA Tour schedule, the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Located about a half hour from downtown Memphis on an old dairy farm, TPC Southwind holds its own against the best players in the game, with water coming into play on 11 holes. The par-3 11th hole is perhaps the course’s signature hole, featuring a peninsula green that requires a short iron, similar to the 17th at TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium course. The hole will be memorable for anyone who watched the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship, when Will Zalatoris’ tee shot ended up staying dry and wedging itself between the grass, in his playoff victory over Sepp Straka.
