KAUKAUNA (WLUK) — One week after Green Bay native Alex Pretti was shot by federal agents in Minneapolis, biking groups across the country held a special ride in his honor.

The ride was created by Angry Catfish Bicycle Shop and Coffee Bar in Minnesota, for whom Pretti rode with.

Kaukauna was among the local communities that took part in the nationwide event, with organizers at the Recyclist Bicycle Co. saying dozens of community members braved the cold to participate.

Organizers say that Pretti was a kind and caring soul, and a bright light to those around him.

With one saying the bike ride was a way for the cycling community to come together and heal following Pretti’s death.

“Alex was a cyclist and was a helper and he was a son, and a big part of the cycling community is just that, its community,” says bicyclist Lora Glase. “Today felt like a day that people just needed to come together and heal. And also just remember who Alex was as a cyclist and a human being.”

Pete’s Garage in Green Bay spoke with FOX 11 this week, as they hosted a 12-mile unity ride for Pretti on Saturday as well.
