The University of Louisville standout was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 32nd overall pick of the 2014 draft. He’d join Carolina in his age-28 season, after a three-year run in Minnesota and a two-year stint for the NFC South rival New Orleans Saints.
Bridgewater signed a three-year, $63 million deal with the Panthers. He’d go on to start in each of his 15 outings—passing for 3,733 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Carolina, after just one season of the pact, traded Bridgewater to the Denver Broncos in 2021. He’s since picked up additional stops with the Miami Dolphins (2022) and Detroit Lions (2023 and 2024).
Rivals High School also notes that Bridgewater is stepping down from his current position as the head football coach at Miami Northwestern High School, his alma mater. Bridgewater was recently suspended by Northwestern due to allegations of providing impermissible benefits to players.
