A “UFC Fight Night” mixed martial arts event is set to take place at the Galaxy Macau casino resort from May 28 to 30, the property’s promoter, Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, announced over the weekend.
The UFC has yet to announce the fight card for the upcoming event in Macau.
It will be held at a 16,000-seat Galaxy Arena, a multipurpose venue within the Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC) at Galaxy Macau.
This will be the first fight following the signing in September last year of a four-year multi-event strategic partnership agreement between Galaxy Entertainment and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Under the deal, Galaxy Macau is set to host three “UFC Fight Night” events between 2026 and 2029.
As part of the agreement, the Macau casino resort will also host the opening round of UFC’s “Road to UFC” tournament on May 28 and 29.
It is described as “a talent-development series that provides elite emerging fighters from Asia-Pacific with a pathway to compete in the UFC.” The competition follows a win-to-advance format across multiple weight classes, with winners earning UFC contracts.
A “UFC Fight Night”, featuring some of the best MMA athletes in the world, will take place on May 30, as per the update.
Each “UFC Fight Night” in Macau “will be complemented by a week-long programme of activities, including fan meet-and-greets and appearances by star fighters, creating a festival-like atmosphere both inside and outside the arena,” according to September’s announcement.
In 2024, Galaxy Macau welcomed the UFC back to the city for the first time in a decade with a “sold-out” UFC Fight Night featuring Petr Yan and Deiveson Figueiredo.
