MMA buys New York-based maritime broker

Marsh McLennan Agency on Monday said it has acquired Robinson & Son.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The Hudson Falls, New York-based broker provides property/casualty insurance and specializes in insurances coverages for maritime industry.

Robinson & Son has six employees, according to an email from a spokesperson.

All employees, including co-founder and agency principal James Robinson, will join MMA and remain at their existing Hudson Falls office location, Marsh McLennan said in a statement.

Robinson & Son was founded in 2005 by James Robinson and his father Peter Robinson, who has retired.

Jerry Alderman, CEO of MMA’s Northeast region, said in the statement Robinson & Son has strong ties to the maritime industry.

Mr. Robinson said in the statement joining MMA would give Robinson & Son “access to broader resources.”
