NORMAN, Okla. – UT Arlington men’s tennis opened its weekend with a 4-0 loss to the ITA-ranked No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners. The Mavericks (0-4) will play one more match in Norman, Oklahoma on Sunday to end their road trip.
Oklahoma (8-1) won its doubles matches on Court 1 and Court 3 to secure an early point. In singles play, UTA’s Finbar McGarvey and OU’s Johan Rodriguez — ranked as ITA’s No. 107 singles player — had their match end because of a retirement on Court 3.

Court 1 saw Yazid Lahjomri battle Oklahoma’s top-ranked singles player — No. 72 Oscar Lacides — to a 6-2, 4-3 mark before the match was left unfinished. Ellison Minnaar bounced back in the second set of his unfinished match on Court 4, leading the Sooners’ Hank Trondson 4-3 before the tilt was called.
