DANNY Röhl was pleased with the display from his Rangers squad as they booked their place in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals in style.

In a dominant 8-0 win over Queen’s Park, the Light Blues were at their fluent best as four different goalscorers set them on their way to the last eight.

Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the afternoon’s work, he commented: “We spoke about this that we have to take this game very serious.

“You never know with a cup game, and my players delivered well. 8-0, it doesn’t matter who the opponent is; you have to score eight times; it is never easy.

“We did it professionally, I think a lot of good goals, different types of goals, this is also what I like.

“Finally, the short combination before the last one from Tochi [Chukwuani], I liked it. Good second chipped ball from Oliver [Antman] to Ryan [Naderi].

“Good set plays again, all in all, I am very pleased with the performance, but it is all about the next, and we know what we have ahead of us. Two big games now, and I feel we are ready for this.

“Early goal? Yes, it helps when you score against the opponents early in the game.

“I felt straight from the first minute that we were in the duals that we were ready, we had the intensity, we were physical, strong. I think this is also a part, and we enjoyed playing football in front of our supporters.

“I think it was a good afternoon for us as a club. We want more, I think this is also important, we have to carry on, we have big goals with what we want to achieve, and this helps to go with confidence in such goals.”

On a day of fantastic individual displays, which included first Rangers goals for both Ryan Naderi and Tochi Chukwuani, as well as a James Tavernier hat-trick, the German says the team are in a good way following a positive window of recruits.

He continued: “In general, at first it was a good team performance, and then we always have a little bit of an idea which players have to create confidence.

“I think for Oliver [Antman] it was important to start after these good 15 minutes from the Kilmarnock game.

“Tuur [Rommens] showed again that he gives us an impact, and I think I could continue with all the names now, but let’s speak about the ‘we’, we as a team, we as a club. If you continue this until the end of the season, we will continue in a good way.

“The result now from the window, we have a strong group together. The board with Andrew [Cavanagh] as our owner and all of them in the background then with our technical director he did a fantastic job support from Stig and create a good team.

“We have all formed one goal, everything goes in the right direction, and let’s be positive, carry on, it’s all about the next game and let’s try win the next game on Wednesday, which will be a tough one.”

The Head Coach feels the squad are well equipped for a big week ahead now, with crucial league matches against both Motherwell and Hearts to come.

He added: “We are ready, we feel the confidence. I think this is crucial. It is about recovering tomorrow, especially and then Tuesday, prepare for the next game.

“Move forward, be hungry and even there were some moments in the game where we had to take resilience.

“This is also important, and to understand it is not always like this game, where you feel like everything is in the flow. Sometimes it is hard working in the league, carry on, a lot of good goals, a clean sheet again.

“I am happy today, but I know the next game is coming.”
