Collin Morikawa has endured a disastrous spell on the PGA Tour since he narrowly missed out on winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.
And as crazy as this sounds, Morikawa‘s place on the US Ryder Cup team is now in serious jeopardy.
The 28-year-old has found the going really tough on the PGA Tour, and it’s incredible to think that a player who was so imperious with his irons is without a win since October 2023.
Morikawa was said to be in a really bad spot at The Open Championship last month, with his game seemingly having deserted him at the worst time possible.
Morikawa worked incredibly hard on his game at The Open, but he still missed the cut by quite some margin.
Now he is in real danger of missing out on the showdown with Europe at Bethpage Black.

Whatever he tries just isn’t working, and he is now outside the automatic Ryder Cup qualifying spots looking in.
Morikawa was asked if he believes he will be on the Ryder Cup team in September, when speaking to SIRIUS XM PGA TOUR Radio.
He said: “Look, I’ve been able to play two Ryder Cups now and I’ve got to make sure I make that team. I’ve got an opportunity in front of me the next two weeks to get one of those automatic qualifying spots.
“Look, I mean I would say we were very prepared in 21, four years ago, and two years ago we went in not so prepared. So whether that changes things and we adapt potentially. Goal number one is to make sure I’m on that team going to Bethpage.“
Morikawa may well be desperate to be on the Ryder Cup team but his poor form means that Keegan Bradley might overlook him for a captain’s pick, unless he shows some really positive signs during the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

It’s clear to see from those stats that Morikawa’s putting and chipping are the two issues that have prevented him from winning this season.
If Morikawa is to make a late run up the Ryder Cup points list and the FedEx Cup standings over the final few weeks of the season, he simply has to sharpen up his game on and around the greens.
As things stand though, it’s all looking rather bleak for the 28-year-old.
