BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – The 2025 high school season is just more than a week away from starting off, and IMG Academy looks to build off of a strong 2024 campaign on the gridiron.
The Ascenders national team went 7-2 in 2024, and put up big numbers on the scoreboard throughout much of last season. This season they’re taking the field with a new head coach.
Greg Studrawa is entering first year as the lead man at the helm. He has an extensive college football coaching history including stints at LSU and Ohio State.
When it comes to this group, the man they call “Coach Studz” says it’s all about the basics. “We want to be able to get down to the fundamentals,” Studrawa said. “Blocking, tackling and being sound in the scheme. When the kids hit the field, they should be in a position to have success. That’s the most important thing.”
The Director of Football, Kyle Brey, is excited to go into this season too. “2024, the Fall was a very exciting year for us,” Brey said. “You can take a look at our schedules that are already online for all three of our teams. You can see that there are a lot of away games and a lot of travel. I can tell you right now, that is not something that is unique to this season.”
The Ascenders get their season started on August 14, on the road at The First Academy.
