MASTERTON Motorsports has confirmed it will run rookie Hamish Fitzsimmons in the 2026 Dunlop Super2 Series.

First flagged last week, the partnership will put the youngster who has cut his teeth in Porsche one-make racing aboard a Tickford-built Ford Supercar.

Fitzsimmons will make his Super2 debut next week at Sydney Motorsport Park, where he impressed during a recent test.

“Straight out of the gate, he was on the pace,” team owner James Masterton reported to V8 Sleuth.

The car will have some serious engineering firepower behind it, with Chaz Mostert’s former long-time right-hand-man Adam DeBorre pulling the strings.

“I wouldn’t have done this without Adam. It’s a good fit,” said Masterton.

It was through DeBorre and another prominent industry figure, Paul Ceprnich, that driver and team were connected in the first place.

“We had already locked Adam in for the entire season with another driver, but that fell through,” Masterton explained.

“Adam was still keen to work with us, so when Paul Ceprnich went to Adam and asked if the car was still available (for Fitzsimmons), it all went from there.”

The car is the same Gen2 Mustang which Jonathon Webb raced in the second-tier series last October at Bathurst.

“That was a last-minute rush, but it was quick and I think we have got it a bit better again,” said Masterton.

“I spent a lot of time over the Christmas break just double checking everything is spot on. I think we’re going to have a good car.”

Fitzsimmons is the 15th driver officially announced for Sydney Super2.

Eggleston Motorsport will field as many as four cars, none of which currently have a name formally attached to them, while Matt Chahda Motorsport may yet reveal a second driver.
