There’s been some sad news out of Hollywood today; American actor Bud Cort has died at the age of 77, per reports.
The actor, whose real name was Walter Edward Cox, was known for the likes of the iconic 1970 M*A*S*H movie, starring Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould, and 1971’s Harold and Maude.
According to Variety, he died after a long illness and his friend Dorian Hannaway reported the sad news of his passing.

American actress and singer Roslyn Kind, 75, shared a statement with the outlet following the news of his death.
“I was only fourteen when I met Bud at the backstage door at my sister’s play,” she said.
“We became close friends who shared our interest in entertainment… His unique spirit will always be with me,” she added in part.

The late star reportedly died in Connecticut, in the US.
It’s been reported that he had a near-fatal car crash in 1979 where he needed plastic surgery and suffered broken bones.
“I try not to look in mirrors,” he once told People about the smash.
“But I’m getting on with my life.”
In the M*A*S*H movie, he portrayed Pvt. Boone.
He was only in his early 20s when he played young character of Harold in Harold and Maude, a film about a lifechanging age-gap romance, opposite Ruth Gordon and Vivian Pickles.

He went on to enjoy a successful career in Hollywood over the years, and appeared in the likes of Brave New World, The Secret Diary of Sigmund Freud and even did voice work for animated shows.
More recent acting credits to his name include Coyote Ugly and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and series Ugly Betty and Criminal Minds.
