Amanda Pelman’s memoir is not called I Signed Kylie Minogue, despite the former Mushroom Records executive long since accepting that across five decades as a tastemaker, her bet on a young soapie star in 1987 is still what she is best known for.

“A couple of people said to me, why the hell are you calling this book Four Weddings and an Encore, instead of leaning into Kylie, but I wanted to show that life is not just some sequential career,” Pelman says from Paris, where she moved after Australian rock legend Brian Cadd filed to divorce her in 2021.
