AS Monaco Basket head coach Vassilis Spanoulis announced that forward Yoan Makoundou is currently out of the team by his own decision, until further notice.
AS Monaco forward Yoan Makoundou has been separated from the team.
According to head coach Vassilis Spanoulis, the 25-year-old French forward was absent from Monaco’s 81-76 win over Nanterre in the French league because he is currently outside the team by his own decision.
“He is outside the team because he wants to be outside the team,” Spanoulis said after the game, via L’Equipe, adding that the decision stands “until further notice.”
This season, Makoundou has appeared in five EuroLeague games, averaging 6.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in around seven minutes per game.
In the French league, he has played nine games, averaging 8.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest.
The club is reportedly facing severe financial difficulties and is in the process of being taken over by the Monegasque government.
Earlier last week, Monaco star Mike James openly expressed his frustration on social media regarding the team’s financial situation, saying he had been lied to and criticizing what he described as the disrespectful handling of the matter.
