From the very beginning, the team behind the Vermont Coyotes has focused on keeping community at the center of every conversation. Long before the new logo was placed on the floor of the “Aud” and lights-out games captivated fans, the organization began planning The Pup Pack — a special experience exclusively for young community members.

“When we first started mapping out what we wanted the Coyotes to represent, youth involvement was always part of that vision,” said Brandy Marie, staff performance analyst for the Coyotes. “The Pup Pack naturally grew out of that vision as a way to give kids direct access to the energy, excitement, and culture of Coyotes basketball.”

Pup Pack participants join Coyotes players before tip-off for behind-the-scenes experiences such as locker room visits, Q&A sessions, pre-game shootarounds, and more. Pack members have also warmed up with the team, helped create the player tunnel during team introductions, and even sat on the bench during games.

Topping off an unforgettable experience, some pups have even been recognized afterward by Coyotes players.

“We’ve had parents tell us this was the first live experience where their child truly felt involved — not just watching from the stands, but feeling like they were part of the team experience,” Marie said.

For the Vermont Coyotes, providing memorable community events like these is part of their overall mission.

“It matters because it gives kids something positive and local to rally around. It strengthens the bond between players and the community. It provides affordable, family friendly entertainment,” Marie said. “Most importantly, it helps kids feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves, not just spectators in the stands.”

Providing kids with direct access to professional sports also helps build the next generation of fans, athletes, and leaders. “In a state like Vermont, those connections matter even more,” Marie said. “It’s personal here. It’s about relationships, not just events.”

The Coyotes team says the Pup Pack is much more than a cheering section, just as the experience itself is more than a basketball game.

“If a kid leaves a Coyotes game feeling seen, included, and inspired, then we’re doing exactly what we set out to do … It’s about building confidence, connection, and community for the next generation and that’s something we’re incredibly proud to be growing here in Vermont,” Marie said.
