Jake Paul might be on the sidelines for a while after undergoing another major surgery on his jaw following his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua.
Jake Paul suffered the second professional loss of his polarizing boxing career in December against former heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua. For the first time in his career, Paul was stopped inside the ring, as Joshua broke Paul’s jaw with a brutal right hand.
Paul hinted at taking a long hiatus from competition following the Joshua fight, before potentially entertaining the possibility of rematches with fighters like Tommy Fury and others. He also wants to return to the cruiserweight division to contend for a potential world title.
Paul underwent invasive surgery to repair his broken jaw after the Joshua fight, leading to a likely long road back to the ring in 2026. But Paul recently suffered a big step backwards and went under the knife for a second time.
Jake Paul suffers major setback in recovery from broken jaw
In a recent Instagram post, Paul revealed that his recovery suffered a significant setback.
“Had to get another jaw surgery,” Paul shared.
“The screws and plates were coming loose because apparently I didn’t rest for the past 2 months whaattttttttt.”
As of this writing, it’s uncertain when Paul will return to the ring, although it’s entirely possible he could return by year’s end.
In the meantime, Paul and Most Valuable Promotions are making noise with the recent announcement of Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano for an upcoming MMA main event. It’ll mark Rousey’s first fight in 10 years and the first MMA main event under the MVP banner.
As for what’s next for Paul, he’ll look to replicate the winning streak he went on after suffering his first loss in the ring.
