Taking place this Friday (August 8), the session is the fruit of a partnership between the York branch of Parkinson’s UK and local inclusive cycling organisation Get Cycling.
Those affected by other neurological conditions besides Parkinson’s are welcome to attend too.
The session will be held from 2pm to 3.30pm at the cycle track at York Sport Village.
Maria Liversidge, a specialist Parkinson’s physiotherapist at York Hospital and one of the event’s organisers, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people with Parkinson’s to try something new.
“Even those with limited balance and coordination can take part in a safe, supervised setting.
“Just come along and have a go.”
A variety of specially adapted bikes and trikes will be available to try, with Get Cycling staff to be on hand to guide attendees.
Paula Clark from Get Cycling said: “It’s been wonderful to help people who thought their cycling days were over.
“We’re excited to support the Parkinson’s community and help more people rediscover the joy of riding.”
Jay Sillence, of InkBlot Films, has created a short promotional video for the event.
The taster session is free and no booking is required.
