Former NRL player turned popular media personality Joel Caine has taken an indefinite break from his radio duties for health reasons.

SEN confirmed the news on Tuesday and Caine took to X to ally any concerns he was in serious trouble.

“Just want to be upfront and honest. We aren’t robots. My turn right now,” Caine, 47, posted to social media.

“Struggling… never thought it would be me, but it is.

“Anyone feeling like me I’m sending you a big cuddle.

“I’m good, but need some time. Back soon.”

Caine played 97 first grade games across St George, Balmain, and the Wests Tigers throughout his career as a talented outside back.

He finished his rugby league career in the Super League in England.

He enjoyed a seamless transition into media after retiring from football, and has most recently been known as the face of Sportsbet during NRL season.

He was hosting SEN’s The Run Home with Joel and Fletch but will step down from that role indefinitely.

“Joel is a much loved on and off-air figure on the SEN airwaves,” radio boss Craig Hutchison said in a statement.

“He has made the strong decision to focus on his health for a period of time, and we respect that courage and honesty to speak up, seek support and take a break.

“We’ll continue to work with our mate, Joel, to support him throughout this period.”
