The chief executive of $17 billion data centre giant CDC Data Centres says it has become much easier to get approvals for huge data centres in Victoria than elsewhere in Australia as states jostle for lucrative investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Greg Boorer is preparing to open the 19-year-old company’s first Melbourne site and is at the forefront of an escalating data centre gold rush as companies such as CDC, AirTrunk, NextDC and Goodman Group race to meet demand from AI giants and big local companies.
