Never before had India scored this many runs in a T20 World Cup, and only one team has scored more in all these editions of the tournament. Here’s a look at the numbers.

256 for 4 – India’s total against Zimbabwe in Chennai, is the second-highest in the history of the men’s T20 World Cup. The highest is 260 for 6 by Sri Lanka against Kenya in the inaugural edition in 2007.

India’s previous highest total in the competition was 218 for 4 against England in Durban, which also came in 2007.

5 – Number of 250-plus totals by India in T20Is. No other team has more than three such totals. India jointly hold the record for most 250-plus totals in all T20s, alongside Sunrisers Hyderabad.

6 – Batters in India’s innings who scored 20-plus runs and all had a strike rate of 150-plus. Only once before have six (or more) batters in a team faced ten-plus balls with a 150-plus strike rate in a T20I innings: Gibraltar against Bulgaria last year.

India are also the second team with six 20-plus scores in an innings at the men’s T20 World Cup. Netherlands were the first, doing so against India in Ahmedabad last week.
