GWS Giants captain Toby Greene has revealed he punched his “extremely drunk” father and “told him to f*** off” in a heated moment in the changerooms after a match.

Greene is estranged from his father Michael, who was sentenced to nine months behind bars for headbutting a female police officer following the Giants’ loss in the 2019 AFL Grand Final.

Michael Greene was filmed headbutting the police officer while being removed from the MCG for being intoxicated.

In a new AFL documentary series, Greene revealed he had punched his dad years before that incident.

“I knocked him out in the change rooms because he was drunk and carrying on,’’ Greene said in the first episode of Prime Video series “Final Siren: Inside the AFL’’.

“He’s pretty loud and boisterous and he’s extremely drunk.

“And I was just embarrassed and just told him to f*** off and punched him.

“So, yeah, it’s hard.

“Like the reason I love footy is because of him and got into it.

“That’s what I’ll take with me and then you learn your lessons from some things that he’s done that you can’t do.”

Greene’s wife Georgia also revealed she had received abusive messages on social media.

“People are saying ‘I hope family members die’ or ‘you should kill yourself’’,’’ she said in the series.

“Or I have a DM saying, ‘you know, I saw him cheating with girls’ and ‘has he bashed you up?’

“It probably affects me more than Toby.

“Sometimes just wish people could see that there is a lot more to Toby.

The documentary also shows Georgia’s frustration as Greene faces the prospect of another costly fine for an on-field indiscretion.

“No more of it, I’m sick of it, we’re sick of it”, she said.

Greene also touched on his feud with the Western Bulldogs — tension exploded in the 2019 elimination final when he made contact with Marcus Bontempelli’s face and pulled his hair in ugly scenes.

“He wasn’t happy about me pulling his hair,” Greene said in the documentary.

After being asked by a producer off camera if the pair get along, Greene puts it bluntly.

“I’ll never have a beer with him,” he said.

Greene and Bontempelli were two of the more senior players to represent Victoria in this month’s State of Origin game, and the pair appeared to put any bad blood behind them.

Greene, who has played 261 games for the Giants, was called out directly by GWS coach Adam Kingsley in a blistering spray captured in the new No Holds Barred documentary.

“You know why … you don’t f***ing stand up,” Kingsley barked at Greene at halftime of a round 20 game against the Sydney Swans when the Giants trailed by 28 points

“Three f***ing touches in a half. You don’t stand up. You allow yourself to be beaten. You don’t change your position, you don’t get to contests and you’re undisciplined. What are you going to do about it?”

Kingsley then points to Josh Kelly as his tirade continues: “What are you going to do about it? You’re a f***ing leader.”

“It doesn’t f***ing mean anything to us, it never does. We talk a f***ing good game, we talk a good game.

“Guess what they do? They go and out-tough you and embarrass you every single f***ing time.”

Then it’s Stephen Coniglio’s turn in the fry pan.

“How many high speed metres has this bloke got?” Kingsley asks as he points at the midfielder.

“23 f***ing high speed metres. For the game. Start f***ing running.”

The blistering spray from Kingsley clearly got through to his players as they went on to kick 12 goals in the second half while keeping the Swans to a single goal. A 28-point halftime deficit turned into a 44-point victory.

The Giants have made finals in Kingsley’s three seasons in charge, but are set to be without several key players to start the season.

Tom Green (ACL) is out for the season, gun defender Sam Taylor suffered a hamstring strain in State of Origin, and midfielder Toby Bedford also strained his hamstring in a practice game.
