Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has appeared on US television, giving a wide-ranging response to the situation after the US and Israel began strikes.

Araghchi was asked to confirm “with specificity” that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian were alive.

“As far as I know, yes, they are alive,” Araghchi said in the exclusive NBC News interview broadcast live on Saturday morning (Washington time).Iran

Araghchi said “almost all officials” were safe, although one or two commanders may have been killed, “but that is not a big problem”.

However, Israeli media suggested a “high probability” that Khamenei was killed or severely wounded.
