Keston Hiura
Former Valencia High School and UC Irvine star Keston Hiura has joined his hometown MLB club, after signing a minor league contract with the L.A. Dodgers on Feb. 12.
The 29-year-old slugging infielder was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2017 draft, making a splash after his major league debut in May 2019.
Despite injuries that kept him sidelined for much of his rookie season, Hiura finished 2019 with a .303 batting average, 19 home runs and 49 RBI in 84 games, earning him a spot on Baseball America’s All-Rookie Team.
After spending most of 2023 in the Brewers’ minor league system, Hiura signed with the Detroit Tigers in 2024, eventually moving on to the Angels in 2024, appearing in 10 games at the major level.
Last season, Hiura played eight games for the Colorado Rockies before being designated for assignment in June.
He has appeared in at least two of the Dodgers’ 2026 Spring Training games as a non-roster invitee. Along with Hyeseong Kim, Hiura could potentially help fill in at second base while infielder Tommy Edman continues to rehab from ankle surgery and is uncertain for Opening Day.
