Afghanistan are set to tour India for a one-off Test followed by three ODIs in June. New Chandigarh will host the Test starting June 6, while the three ODIs will take place Dharamsala, Lucknow and Chennai on June 14, 17 and 20 respectively.

This will only be the second Test between the two sides, after India won the first one, played in 2018 by an innings and 262 runs. The Test will not be a part of the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. It will be just the second Test to take place in India in the month of June, with the first one also coming against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.

The series begins just six days after the conclusion of the IPL, the final of which is set to be played on May 31.

Afghanistan’s tour of India 2026

One-off Test: June 6-10, New Chandigarh

Three ODIs: June 14 (Dharamsala), 17 (Lucknow) and 20 (Chennai)

This will be the first bilateral ODI series between India and Afghanistan, who have met in the format only at the Asia Cup and the World Cup so far. Across formats, the teams had last met at a Super Eights game at the T20 World Cup in 2024.

While it will be India’s first assignment after the ongoing T20 World Cup, Afghanistan will be hosting Sri Lanka for three T20Is and ODIs each in the UAE just after the World Cup ends. The series against Afghanistan will lead into a busy period for India who are also scheduled to tour England for five T20Is and three ODIs from July 1-19.
