Former Australian leg-spinner Stuart MacGill has delivered an expletive-filled tirade on the most recent episode of the Cricket Unfiltered podcast, calling co-host Andrew Menczel a “f***ing idiot” in the extraordinary blow-up.

Menczel, who has hosted the podcast alongside MacGill since January, was discussing the treatment of David Warner’s wife Candice during the 2018 Test tour of South Africa, referencing how members of the crowd donned Sonny Bill Williams masks, which he called “low behaviour” and “way over the line”.

However, MacGill seemingly took exemption to Menczel mentioning the ordeal and berates his co-host for nearly three minutes before the episode abruptly ends.

During the spiel, MacGill calls Menczel a “moron”, “pig-headed” and a “muppet” before declaring he will never work with him again if the segment was not aired. The 55-year-old repeatedly talks over the top of his co-host, at one stage threatening to “jump across the mic”.

Andrew Menczel: “I do think the sexist treatment of Candice Warner by the South African crowds went way over the line. Going in with Sonny Bill Williams masks to try and taunt Warner is low. That is low behaviour. It’s targeting his wife, which I think is pretty poor, and they can go pretty low.”

Stuart MacGill: “Well I think it’s pretty low talking about it for starters, Menners. I think you didn’t need to go into details there. I think that’s s***. You’re a f***ing idiot. You shouldn’t go into details about things like this because you’re doing exactly the same as the crowd. OK.”

AM: “No, not really.”

SM: “No, no you are. Listen to me now! You’ve raised exactly the same issues, you’re saying the same thing that they did. And that is s***. So we’re not going to talk about that anymore. If we’re going to talk about issues to do with one particular player, we can say they’ve talked about personal issues relating to that player.”

AM: “No, that’s fair.”

SM: “No, I’m right, mate.”

AM: “I said that’s fair.”

SM: “It is fair. Menners, Menners, what I want you to do right this minute, because otherwise this is going to be a very, very short-lived relationship, you need to respect players and their families a lot more than you do at the moment.”

AM: “I do respect them … I felt sorry for her.”

SM: “Listen mate, listen. She’s a friend of mine as well. Listen, I feel sorry for you because you’re obviously so pig-headed because you do not realise you said exactly the same thing as the South African crowd. Exactly the same.”

AM: “I didn’t bring anything up. I didn’t go into details.”

SM: “You are a moron. Continue. Next topic.”

AM: “Alright next topic, fair enough.”

SM: “And if you cut that out, it’s the last time I ever work with you.

AM: “I won’t cut it out at all, I’ll leave it in. I just think you’re missing the point. You’re missing what I’m trying to say.”

SM: “Move on. Move on. Move on. Move on. Move on. Listen, you muppet. When I say move on, I’m not saying keep talking about something.”

AM: “It’s my show too, I can keep talking.”

SM: “Go on, keep talking.”

AM: “I will keep talking.”

SM: “Go on, keep talking.”

AM: “Nah, I want to move on.”

SM: “Good.”

AM: “It’s a good blow up … you look really upset?”

SM: “I am upset with you. Move on.”

AM: “Ok, if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine.”

SM: “You’re a joke mate. Move on, move on.”

AM: “You seem very irritable.”

SM: “I may jump across the mic at any second.”

AM: “Just watch your knee … actually you know what, that’s it for this episode. Thanks for joining us.”

SM: “You sure? Cool. That’s great.”
