LA JOLLA, Calif. – Villanova doubles teams competed across the main and consolation draws this weekend, highlighted by a strong run from Quincy Jones and Jack Sherner in the back draw.

In the main draw, Jones and Sherner battled in the Round of 128, falling in three sets (6-2, 7-6 (5)) to Drew Goldman/Jayanth Mallampati. Justin Frattarelli and Will Monahan advanced to the Round of 32 after earning a Round of 128 win, before dropping a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Connor Church/Niels Hoffmann.

In consolation play, Jones and Sherner put together an impressive run to the finals. The duo picked up wins over Ethan Carr/Cooper Gordon (8-6), Taylor Jenkins/Sean Ellerbrock (2-6, 6-3, 10-4), and Hasith Gummuluru/Zhora Chetverukhin (6-1, 6-3). They advanced to the semifinals via walkover before finishing as consolation finalists, falling in a tightly contested three-set match (3-6, 7-5, 10-5) to Nadaul Cheam/Dylan Paterson.

Kush Anand and Thomas Wakefield also earned a consolation victory, defeating Austin Lamy/Sam Saeed (8-6), while Ethan Solop and Cameron Kruep secured an 8-4 win over Raphael Simon/Carlo Drewelow in the Round of 32 consolation.

Villanova will look to build on the strong doubles performances as the spring season continues.
