A 32-year-old man who was shot by police after allegedly threatening officers with a gun on the Sunshine Coast has faced court on a dozen charges, including a weapons charge relating to a revolver.

Dominic Reece Bryham’s charges include five counts of serious assault on police while armed, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, going armed as to cause fear, possession of a dangerous drug and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Police will allege they began tracking a white hatchback after it crashed on the Sunshine Motorway at Sippy Downs.

The car then drove away from the scene, heading to Nambour Connection Road, where the driver fled the hatchback and got into a white ute.

Police alleged the 32-year-old got out of the ute and “approached officers armed with a gun” just before being shot by police.

He was given first-aid at the scene by police, then taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Mr Bryham made no application for bail and was remanded in custody.

The matter will return to Maroochydore Magistrates Court on March 30.
