Charlotte Hornets at Boston Celtics

This is a matchup of the two hottest teams in the league.

The Celtics could make these final weeks of the regular season very interesting, coming in just 4.5 games behind the Pistons for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Boston has made huge strides to gain ground, and since January 21, they have an incredible 15-4 record.  It is tough to compete against a well-balanced lineup like Boston, as they are one of four teams that are top-10 in offensive and defensive adjusted ratings. There’s also the looming return of Jayson Tatum for the Playoffs, although he will not suit up for this game.

The Hornets have completely changed their outlook on the season. It looked like they were on the verge of another disappointing season, but now they are in the Play-In Tournament and trending up. Since January 21, they have the same 15-4 record as the Celtics, and these are the only two teams with that many wins during that span. It has a lot to do with some of the younger players stepping up, including Kon Kneuppel, who is looking like a Rookie of the Year candidate, as he leads the NBA in three-pointers with 211.

This has the makings of an entertaining and potentially high-scoring matchup, with both teams highly efficient from behind the arc.

Oklahoma City Thunder at New York Knicks

The Thunder are not as dominant as earlier in the season, but they are still holding onto the top seed in the Western Conference. Their lead for the No. 1 spot in the West has shrunk in recent weeks, with the Spurs now just three games behind. The defending champs’ biggest problem has been injuries, and that could be a concern in this matchup, with several players on their injury report, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams.

That could be a challenge, going against the Knicks in Madison Square Garden, where their 23 home wins trail only the Thunder for the most in the NBA. New York continues to stay in the race for the Eastern Conference, winning five of their last six and currently holding onto the No. 3 seed. The defense has been suffocating recently, holding its opponent under 100 points in three straight games, including against the Spurs.

This is the game to pay attention to because it’s a potential NBA Finals preview, and these teams could look at it that way. Expect this to be a close, competitive matchup.
