The 2026 World Baseball Classic is officially underway, kicking off the game’s premier international tournament set to culminate with a new champion crowned in Miami on March 17.

Pool A (San Juan, Puerto Rico): Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Puerto Rico
Pool B (Houston, Texas): Brazil, Great Britain, Italy, Mexico, United States
Pool C (Tokyo, Japan): Australia, Czechia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan
Pool D (Miami, Florida): Dominican Republic, Israel, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Venezuela

World Baseball Classic Pool Results
The WBC begins with round-robin pool play before moving on to a single-elimination quarterfinal featuring the top two teams from each group. Semifinals and the championship matchup will be held at loanDepot Park in Miami on Tuesday, March 17.
Pool C
Korea 11, Czechia 4: Astros prospect Shay Whitcomb homered twice and Bo Gyeong Moon hit a first-inning grand slam as Korea powered its way to an opening game win. This result was very much expected, as Korea is the favorite to nab the second spot out of Pool C, but Czechia kept the game closer than expected, which could have implications if the pool play ends with tiebreakers.
Australia 3, Taiwan 0: Travis Bazzana went 2-for-4 with a home run, Alex Wells struck out 10 batters and Australia picked up a critical pool play win against an undermanned Taiwan team. With the win and a game with Czechia up next, Australia has a very good chance to stay out of the basement of the pool and earn an automatic qualification for the 2029 WBC.
