The WBO heavyweight champion was named as the Boxer of the Year at the prestigious ceremony.
In June, the 31-year-old scored a stunning come-from-behind victory over Justis Huni. Boxing at the home of his beloved Ipswich Town football club, Wardley trailed on the scorecards but found a life changing right hand to floor the skilful Australian in the 10th round. In October, he broke down and stopped former heavyweight champion, Joseph Parker, in 11 brutal rounds to win the WBO interim title.
A month later, unified heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, decided to vacate his full title and Wardley was upgraded.
It was a phenomenal twelve months for Wardley who finally shed his “white collar boxer” tag to establish himself as one of the most exciting, dangerous fighters on the planet and position himself at No. 1 in The Ring heavyweight rankings.
Just weeks after scooping Fight of the Year honours at the 2025 Ring Awards, Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn were once again winners.
The rivals met twice over the course of the year but it was their thrilling first contest that earned them the Contest of the Year award.
After years of hostility, the pair’s rivalry exploded at a frenzied Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in April of 2025. On a dramatic night, both fighters pushed each other to the very limit. Eventually, Eubank Jr. won a deserved 12-round decision.
In November, Benn evened the score by boxing his way to a wide unanimous decision victory of his own but the rematch lacked the intensity and excitement of the first fight.
Although Moses Itauma spent less than three rounds in the ring over the course of the year, the 21-year-old’s knockout victories over Mike Balogun and Dillian Whyte were enough to earn him the Boxing Writers Young Boxer of the Year award.
The successes enjoyed by Wardley and Itauma will have been key factors in the decision to name Ben Davison as Trainer of the Year for a second time. Davison’s stable enjoyed a strong year.
The Ring heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, scooped his second Overseas Boxer of the Year award. In July, the Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.
Just months after announcing his retirement from the sport, former undisputed junior welterweight champion, Josh Taylor, was given a Special Recognition Award. In 2021, the Scotsman beat Jose Ramirez to become Britain’s first undisputed champion of the four-belt era and proudly held The Ring 140-pound title.
