“Everyone was confused and people would’ve been confused if I wrote ‘stay’,” Joel said of Juliette’s decision.

After a week of fighting, name-calling and of course that argument over Juliette falsely claiming Joel said he was “the star of the show”, Joel knew he needed to go home.

“I did want to stay in the experiment but not at the expense of my integrity and that’s what I came to realise,” he said.

“I was really enjoying my time despite Juliette’s mistreatment and I didn’t want to leave but I knew that I was willing to stay true to myself.”

Joel admitted to “feeling sick” in the lead up to the Commitment Ceremony but soon realised he had no reason to because he was being honest by choosing to leave.

Of course, with Juliette writing ‘stay’ she and Joel would remain in the experiment together for another week.

“It’s interesting. Why would the star of the show risk leaving the show?” Joel said of Juliette’s decision.

“Actions speak louder than words.”

Whether he liked it or not, Joel was in the experiment with Juliette for another week but he wanted to try to turn things around.

“What am I going to do? Turn into Juliette and give her a dose of her own medicine? No I’m not going to do that. I’m going to give her a chance to redeem herself because I’m a forgiving person.

While Joel said he was ready to move on from their troubles and try and get on with Juliette he did warn: “I forgive but I don’t forget.”
