Australian allrounder Grace Harris will return for the Queensland Fire this week for a pair of must-win games as they chase a spot in the Women’s National Cricket League Final.
Harris, who played in the T20 leg of Australia’s recently completed multi-format series win over India, was named today in Queensland’s 13-player squad for the matches against Victoria at Allan Border Field.
The teams meet tomorrow and Saturday from 9.30am each day, with admission free.
Harris was overlooked by selectors on Monday for the West Indian T20 and ODI series later this month, although remains firmly in contention for the ICC T20 World Cup in England in June.
Her Queensland teammates Georgia Voll and Lucy Hamlton will leave later this week for Australia’s tour, with left-arm pace bowler Hamilton a chance to complete a trifecta of international debuts on the T20 leg of the tour following ODI and Test debuts against India this month.
The Fire are locked in a three-way tussle to make the WNCL Final against NSW for the second season in a row, with the decider already locked in for Sydney on Saturday 21 March.
Queensland and South Australia, which play the Breakers in Adelaide, are both on 27 points with the Fire leading on Net Run Rate.
Western Australia is a point behind and host the ACT Meteors in Perth for their remaining two games.
The WNCL action can be followed online at cricket.com.au and via the CricketLive app.
