The San Jose Sharks have recalled forward Igor Chernyshov from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the San Jose Barracuda as of March 12.
Chernyshov has played 15 NHL games this season, tallying three goals and eight assists. He was the 2024 NHL Entry Draft’s No. 33 overall selection and had seven points in his first seven career games. The Sharks are seeing play at the Boston Bruins on March 12. The recently recalled forward will not see play against the Bruins; the last the media heard the Sharks were working on his travel accommodations.Â
Chernyshov is expected to meet the team in Boston and to then travel with the team as they head to Canada to see action against the Montreal Canadiens on March 14.
Who is Igor Chernyshov?
Chernyshov — who is 20 — is known as a dynamic 6’2″ power forward.
He previously spent all of his pre-draft development in Russia but opted to immediately sign with San Jose and come to North America.

Chernyshov last played in the NHL on Jan. 19 against the Florida Panthers and saw great success in the league during the month of December, 2025.
His former league experience came while san Jose was making offensive adjustments due to injuries. Chernyshov previously has a spot on the then top line of Macklin Celebrini and William Eklund.
Eklund previously missed practice for the Sharks on March 11 and was battling a lower body injury. He did see play against the Bruins, however Chernyshov seems to have still been recalled as a precaution.
