COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – The No. 22 South Carolina women’s tennis team fell to No. 5 Texas A&M, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon in College Station.
All three doubles pairs battled back and forth, each tying their courts up at 4-4. Over on court five, the pair of Kaitlyn Carnicella and Jana Stojanova came up just shy, falling 7-5 to the Aggies duo. Jane Dunyon and Sara Borkop fought hard but were overtaken on court three, 6-4, leading to Texas A&M claiming the doubles point.
Helena Buchwald earned a 7-5 first-set win on court two, as well as Jana Stojanova (7-6) on court six. The Aggies were able to control the pace of the match and were the first to four wins, including singles victories on courts three, four and five.
The Gamecocks will return to Columbia to host No. 3 Auburn (March 19) and No. 23 Florida (March 21) for Alumni Weekend. First serve is set for 5 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
