Box Score 1 SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 19 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis team competed in three matches on Saturday, taking on the Northwestern College Red Raiders, the Concordia College Cobbers, and the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings. The Gusties won all three matches, sweeping the day with 7-0 victories in all three matches to improve to 13-5 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC.
Match One: Northwestern
Ella De Young and Pavla Yakimova got the day started with a 6-0 sweep of #1 doubles. Sidney Wright and Evelyn Bryson won #2 doubles 6-2, securing the team point for Gustavus. The Red Raiders defaulted the #3 doubles match.
Rika Cross put the Gusties up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #2 singles. Annie Klemmensen then took #4 singles 6-1, 6-3 to give Gustavus a 3-0 lead. Madison Packer secured the team victory for Gustavus with a 6-0, 7-5 win at #3 singles.
Yakimova won #1 singles 6-4, 6-2. Taylor Ruhl closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #5 singles. Northwestern defaulted #6 singles.
Match Two: Concordia
Karina Elvestrom and Kaya De Bruijn started the second match of the day off with a 6-0 sweep of #1 doubles. Molly Austin and Lanie Davis followed with a 6-2 win at #2 doubles to secure the doubles point for the Gusties. Jemima Vitou and De Young closed out doubles with a 6-3 win at the #3 match.
De Bruijn won #2 singles 6-0, 6-1 to give Gustavus a 2-0 lead. Elvestrom followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #1 singles. Austin clinched the team victory for the Gusties with a 6-0, 6-4 win at #3 singles for the fourth team point.
Noor Omar swept #4 singles 6-0, 6-0. Davis took #5 singles 6-0, 6-1. Allison Szalay completed the 7-0 team sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of #6 singles.
Match Three: Bethany Lutheran
Bethany Smith and Maya Brakhage opened the final match of the day with a 6-1 win at #1 doubles. Katie Thompson and Klemmensen then won #2 doubles 6-1 to take the team point for the Gusties. BLC defaulted the #3 doubles match.
Melat Tabara gave Gustavus a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-0 win at #4 singles. Packer followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #1 singles for a third Gustie point. Thompson ensured the victory for Gustavus with a 6-0, 6-3 win at #3 singles for the fourth team point.
Vitou took a 6-0, 6-2 win at #2 singles. Anna Key completed the perfect day for Gustavus with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at #5 singles. The Vikings defaulted the #6 singles match.

The Gusties is another Saturday with three matches. The Gusties compete at the College of Saint Benedict and also in two home matches against Hamline University and the College of St. Scholastica on March 28.
