Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art received a brought-forward grant of $3 million from the NSW Government in 2024, but still lost $2.7 million, forcing the state’s second-largest gallery to reintroduce an entry fee in January.
The loss, which included an operational shortfall of $2.1 million, was revealed in MCA’s annual report released on Wednesday, two months later than usual.
