Louisville Storm Special Olympics team won silver at the 2026 Kentucky State Basketball Tournament, with over 600 athletes competing at MidAmerica Sports Center.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Storm Special Olympics brought home silver in the 2026 Special Olympics Kentucky State Basketball Tournament this weekend.
“March Madness” returned to MidAmerica Sports Center March 14 and 15.
More than 40 teams qualified to compete for state championships in the bracketed tournament and more than 600 athletes took part in the action, and the Louisville basketball team took second place.
According to Special Olympics Kentucky, basketball is the largest team sport offered on the organization’s calendar every year.
In addition to the teams who competed in the tournament, teams that did not qualify also had the opportunity to participate in the Team Skills Competition on Sunday. The competition measures teams’ abilities in six basic basketball skills and and gives teams who did not make it to the tournament an opportunity to participate in festivities.
