Mercedes teenager Kimi Antonelli has secured his first ever grand prix victory, making him the second youngest race winner in Formula 1 history.

The 19-year-old was effectively flawless throughout the China Grand Prix, only losing the race lead in the early stages before racing away from the field for the bulk of the race.

Mercedes’ dominance continued with a second-straight one-two finish while seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton returned to the podium for his first time since he joined Ferrari last season.

While it was happy smiles at those two teams, it was horror scenes at McLaren with both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris failing to take part in the race.

Piastri’s nightmare start to the season slunk to even uglier depths when he was wheeled off the grid moments before the lights went out.
