The wait is nearly over, as MCU fans may finally be getting the first trailer Spider-Man: Brand New Day later this week. With just over four months to go until the film’s theatrical this summer, it sounds like Sony Pictures is going to ramp up marketing sooner rather than later. This comes after several leaks made their way online in recent weeks, revealing the film’s gallery of supervillains, specifically Scorpion, played by Michael Mando.

According to a now-deleted social media post by one of Sony Pictures’ international distributors, the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going to release this Wednesday, Mar. 18. While the official U.S. accounts have not confirmed the news just yet, the release date tracks with previous rumors that the highly anticipated sequel would get a trailer ahead of Project Hail Mary. If the details of the post are accurate, then fans can expect the preview to drop in the early morning at 7:05 a.m. ET, and likely play in theaters before showings of Ryan Gosling’s sci-fi epic.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, and while releasing a trailer four months ahead of what is expected to be one of the biggest films of the year may seem worrying, it is the standard operating procedure for Sony Pictures. No Way Home, which went on to gross just over $1.9 billion, had an identical trailer release schedule. While Brand New Day does not have the benefit of featuring two other Spider-Man actors alongside Tom Holland, it is safe to say that the MCU sequel still has plenty to excite audiences, as it softly resets the film series and ushers in a new era for the web-slinger.

It’s been a not-so-hidden secret among diehard fans that the trailer Spider-Man: Brand New Day leaked back in December. It was unfinished, lacking VFX and sound, but the general vibe of the film was shown off to those willing to see a low-quality preview. While plot details are scarce, it is rumored that Brand New Day follows Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man as he encounters several iconic Marvel villains as his super-powered body undergoes a drastic transformation. Hopefully, the impending official trailer release will give fans a good idea of what the film has to offer, especially when it comes to its stacked ensemble cast.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Spider-Man: Brand New Day features Holland as Peter Parker, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, and Michael Mando as Scorpion. New additions to the franchise include Marvin Jones III as Tombstone, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Tramell Tillman. Sink, fresh off the Stranger Things series finale, is said to play a key role in the film, with many speculating that she could be playing X-Men member Jean Grey.
