Michael B. Jordan took home his first Oscar on Sunday for his work in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, but the most recent Best Actor winner once played a completely different role.
In 2016, Jordan was featured in the NBA 2K17 career mode as “Justice Young.” In a trailer for the game, he represented the Phoenix Suns, who gave him a shoutout on social media after the win.
Jordan’s character played a pivotal role in the NBA 2K17 career mode as he served as the player’s teammate throughout the story. The game has since featured plenty of other celebrities, including J. Cole, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne and more.
While being featured in NBA 2K17 might have been a unique experience for Jordan, it’s fair to say that winning Best Actor on Sunday might be a higher honor.
