SHANE van Gisbergen has sealed his place in NASCAR “for years to come” after agreeing to a multi-year contract extension with Trackhouse Racing.
Since making an unforgettable Cup Series debut when he won on debut two years ago in Chicago, van Gisbergen’s career Stateside has taken off.
He made the Xfinity Series playoffs as a rookie in 2024 before graduating to the top tier, where he has already chalked up three wins this season.
There had for a time been uncertainty about how Trackhouse’s four-into-three crunch would go amid mounting pressure to promote teen sensation Connor Zilisch, but that situation eased once it was announced Daniel Suarez will depart at season’s end.
Now, it’s clear SVG is here to stay.
“I feel like Trackhouse Racing is my home,” said the 36-year-old Kiwi.
“Trackhouse gave me the opportunity to race at Chicago in 2023. That was just a one-race deal, and everything that has happened since then is because of the chance Justin (Marks, Trackhouse owner) took on me.
“The men and women at Trackhouse have helped me feel at home in this new challenge, and I’ve been loving every minute of it.
“We still have a lot of work to do, but I couldn’t be happier.”
Van Gisbergen will be back in action this weekend as the NASCAR season continues at the Watkins Glen road course.
