Images and certification details for a new foldable smartphone from Chinese brand Motorola have emerged in China, revealing what appears to be the upcoming Motorola Razr 70, a device expected to be launched in Australia as competition intensifies in the premium foldable market.

The handset, carrying the model number XT2657-2, has appeared on China’s TENAA certification platform, giving the clearest look yet at Motorola’s next clamshell foldable ahead of an expected Australian release. The device is widely tipped to arrive locally just weeks before Samsung unveils its next Galaxy Flip model, setting up a direct battle between the two brands in mid-2026.

Motorola Mobility Australia has not confirmed whether the device has secured local Australian regulatory certification, or whether the company intends to rely on approvals granted in China. Motorola, which is owned by Lenovo — a company partially backed by Chinese government-linked entities — has previously released devices in markets using Chinese certification pathways rather than undertaking additional local testing.

The Razr 70 has also cleared China’s 3C certification platform, which reveals key details about the handset’s charging capability.

Leaked regulatory images show a familiar clamshell foldable design, with the back panel housing a horizontal dual-camera system alongside an LED flash and a large secondary display. Branding for the Motorola batwing logo and Razr nameplate appears on the lower section of the device.

The right-hand side frame includes volume controls and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, consistent with previous Razr models.

According to the 3C listing, the device will support 33W fast charging, suggesting there may be no improvement in charging speeds compared with last year’s Razr 60.

Display specifications also appear largely unchanged. Certification data points to a 6.9-inch OLED foldable main display with a resolution of 1080 x 2640 pixels, accompanied by a 3.63-inch external screen offering a resolution of 1056 x 1066 pixels.

Camera hardware is expected to include a 32-megapixel front camera and a dual rear camera system made up of two 50-megapixel sensors. Motorola has increasingly relied on celebrity endorsements — including Paris Hilton — to promote its Razr foldable lineup.

Internally, the Razr 70 is listed with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.75GHz, paired with multiple memory configurations including 8GB, 12GB, 16GB and 18GB of RAM.

Storage options could range from 128GB through to 1TB, positioning the handset squarely in the premium tier of the foldable market.

Powering the device is a dual-cell battery rated at 4,275mAh, with typical capacity expected to reach around 4,500mAh.

The handset measures 171.3mm x 73.9mm x 7.2mm when unfolded and weighs approximately 188 grams.

Retail industry sources indicate the device has already been shown to Australian retailers, with a launch expected just ahead of Samsung’s next Galaxy Flip announcement in June, potentially giving Motorola a brief head start in the foldable phone race.
